Why you should consider the fitted nappy style (even though it needs a separate cover)
Added on 06 June 2020 in Darlings Downunder, General Info & Advice | 0 commentsSo many times people have said to me that they think the 'fitted' style of modern cloth nappy (which needs a separate cover over the top) would be less convenient than a cloth nappy that has the waterproof layer built in. But fitted nappies are awesome due to their superior containment and the ability to boost the absorbency by a LOT: ... READ MORE
How to stuff a pocket cloth nappy
Added on 29 May 2020 in Darlings Downunder, General Info & Advice | 0 commentsPocket nappies are awesome - the absorbent insert can be separated from the waterproof shell for faster drying, they're easy to boost with extra absorbency, and once assembled are really easy for people who aren't family with modern cloth nappies to use, as everything is cleanly tucked away inside the nappy. But, fairly regularly, I meet parents who have crossed the pocket nappy style off their list of potential options because it seems like getting those inserts inside the pocket might be a bit... Updated Shop Hours
Added on 08 April 2020 in Darlings Downunder, General Info & Advice, Out & About | 0 commentsThis week there's been a change to our opening hours so we can also offer private appointments for those parents who need it. We're still open from 9:30am to 12:30pm all days except Tuesday and Sunday when we're closed all day. From 12:30pm to 3pm most days, we will have appointment slots available for... READ MORE
The best backup nappy to have in your stash
Added on 05 April 2020 in Darlings Downunder, General Info & Advice, Traditional Flat & Prefold Cloth Nappies | 0 commentsSo you want to extend you cloth nappy stash, or want to keep some extras in the cupboard in case of emergency, or prepare for the zombie apocolypse (when there'll be plenty of time for washing nappies in between the screaming and the running, I'm sure). What's the best reusable nappy to buy and have on hand, just in case? Hands down, its a basic cotton terry towelling flat nappy. Though, for the love of Pete, step away from the pins - try a Snappi; they're awesome - and grab some modern style cl... READ MORE
Is the shop open? COVID-19 Update
Added on 23 March 2020 in Darlings Downunder, General Info & Advice | 0 commentsYes, the shop is open... for the time being. The website is always open and we're sending out orders every day as usual. You can still pick up your order from the shop - we'll even bring it out to your car! In the shop we're being very careful - washing our hands between customers, wiping surfaces and providing hand santitiser, and when possible we will only have one person/group in the shop at a time. If you would like to book an appointment to visit the shop either before or after opening hour... READ MORE
How to make an emergency cloth nappy
Added on 21 March 2020 in Cloth Nappy Awards, General Info & Advice | 0 commentsWe’ve had quite a few people in the shop the last couple of weeks investigating cloth nappies because they’ve experienced (or are worried about) shortages of disposable nappies. We’re happy to help anyone through the information/transition stage, but it did remind me of this hack I learned long ago about creating an emergency nappy. Hopefully this isn’t needed by anyone in a true emergency, but it might come in handy for someone someday... ... READ MORE
